Smoke Detector:
Statistics show that every 10 yrs you have a 70% chance of failure. If you’re smoke detector is more than 10 yrs old you should get it tested by a licensed electrician.

GFI:
Once a year you should push the test button to make sure it’s working. They go bad frequently and GFI is made to save your life so you don’t get electrocuted easily. If it is not working you can get electrocuted.
